Please pause your Walkmans and make sure your pagers are on silent for this early 90s throwback CLE extravaganza. The year is 1991. A young man from Miami named Robert Van Winkle – known to the streets as Vanilla Ice – has just blasted past Michael Jackson on the Billboard charts with a song that sounds suspiciously similar to Queen & David Bowie’s hit single, “under pressure.” Queen, represented by Freddy Mercury, and David Bowie have filed suit against Mr. Van Winkle – AKA Vanilla Ice – in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida for copyright infringement. The parties have decided to meet in person and attempt to settle their dispute. Over three humorous Acts, this program explores what happens, from copyrights to performing rights, Ninja Turtles to conflicts of interest hurdles. There is a Q & A session after each act to further engage the audience and explore the issues.
