Voir dire is a crucial part of any trial attorney’s practice. This program focused on Scrutinizing Peremptory Challenges in Civil Jury Selection. Various parts of the voir dire process were presented in an entertaining way while addressing current legal issues facing civil litigators. The program compared and contrasted effective and ineffective questions to the jury, and identified proper peremptory challenges and potential ways for a court to handle any subsequent objections to those challenges. The presenters gave humorous performances as characters from books, movies and television shows, creatively depicting parties to the case and their prospective jury pool. This structure helped to engage the audience and make the program memorable. It also enables other Inns to timelessly recreate the program by using whichever characters are most appropriate, recognizable or relevant to their Inns.
