A Night At The Staffords
The Staffords are the preeminent legal movie adaptation awards, and the ceremony is the most exclusive red carpet event in Tallahassee. This Oscars-themed program began with an introduction of the theme and explanation of the mechanics for audience discussion and participation via the quiz questions. Following the introduction 4 skits were presented introducing various legal and ethical scenarios. The presenters introduced each skit and then immediately following the skit raised a handful of legal or ethical questions based on the scenarios presented. The legal questions involved various areas of civil and administrative law, both substantive and procedural. Following the audience’s discussion of and answer to each question, the presenter then announced and explained each answer. Participants were also provided with written summations of the applicable law and explanations for each question. Skit 4 presented a scenario involving multiple aspects of attorney ethics both in the skit itself and in the questions that will be discussed and answered by the participants. The participants discussed and answered, and the presenter explained, multiple questions related to specific Florida Bar Rules including R. Reg. FL. Bar Rules 4-1.7, 4-1.5, 4-1.1., and 4-1.16. The content was further discussed and summarized by the presenting group during the conclusion of the program.
