Inspired by the recently released Mary Poppins Returns movie, this program used a Mary Poppins musical theme to present some of the State Bar of California's newly enacted ethics rules that went into effect on November 1, 2018. The presentation discussed rules covering commingling funds, supervising subordinates appropriately, limiting the scope of representation, conducting due diligence, not delaying litigation, and sexual relations with clients. The program included original songs, a dance routine, and an umbrella that "floated down" from a balcony into Mary Poppins's hands, as well as injections of humor, nostalgia, and memetic one-liners to enliven a very important, but often dry legal topic.
