April Pupilage Group Meeting: Community Service
This event focused on veterans. A video was presented to the audience to highlight the community service projects completed by the presenting group. The video prominently featured both the UTAVBOC webinar, an IP presentation to educate veteran entrepreneurs about IP issues, and the Good Neighbor’s Spring Blitz home-revitalization project. It included interviews of members who participated in those projects. After the video, guest speaker Reynaldo Vasquez, the Outreach Officer for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Texas Regional Office, presented an overview of the hiring practices and the outreach services the USPTO provides to veterans. The second guest speaker of the evening was Erick Poston, the Global Director of Defense for Oakley. Mr. Poston has worked with Oakley’s military program since its infancy and has supported the military community and their families for over 20 years. Mr. Poston has also been involved with the Infinite Hero Foundation since its inception in 2011. Infinite Hero Foundation exists to connect our military, veterans and military family members with innovative and effective treatment programs for service related injuries. Mr. Poston presented an overview of the technological advances the patented Oakley Alpha Help Kit (M-Frame Helo) eyewear product provides to protect our military, and he also presented information about the Infinite Hero program. The event event ended with a ChatGPT-generated poem honoring our Inn namesake, the Honorable Barbara M.G. Lynn.
