This entertaining and educational program provided an opportunity to look at bias during a discussion about diversity, equity and inclusion. It looks at social media and immunity, facilitating a discussion of First Amendment protections. Cleverly written into a script that delves into ethical considerations of judges and lawyers, the program discusses whether the use of artificial intelligence works to further justice or just perpetuate bias under the guise of eliminating it. It ventured into a discussion regarding posts that may have defamatory content and the legal and ethical responsibilities of the social media company. The script set up discussion issues of gender and race, whether it should be a factor in the selection of judges, and where wisdom and justice intersect in the discussion. It considered the ethical restrictions judges have with regard to social media and whether social media should continue to enjoy immunity from defamation lawsuits. The skit also set up discussion regarding the ethical and professional obligations of an elected official with respect to prosecuting crimes, bias, and what role should computer programs based on algorithms should play in the justice system.
