Innocent Pup or Bad Max? Witness Issues in the Trial of the Grinch's Dog
This December program focused on the familiar Dr. Seuss story of "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas." Rather than taking the conventional route of putting the Grinch on trial, our program focused on his pet as an indispensable accomplice. The program used the prosecution of Max, the Dog for aiding and abetting the Grinch's notorious crime as a vehicle to address issues in the direct examination of witnesses with unique challenges: (a) the child witness (Cindy Lou Who); the old and plea bargained witness (the Grinch); and the witness who testifies through a translator (Max, the Dog). The teaching points are delivered through the handout and through clips of a TV legal analyst's interview with a local media personality after each witness's testimony. Each segment is introduced with Seussian rhyme, which also used during the Grinch's testimony and the defense's closing argument. At the end of it all, the entire Inn casts a verdict using, appropriately, red and green cards, as the jury. Here is a link to a full recording of the program as presented. https://imaginereporting.egnyte.com/dl/OeTVhOlewW
