Linn Inn Alliance Partnership with the Foundation for Advancement of Diversity in IP Law
The Linn Inn Alliance has entered into a partnership with the Foundation for Advancement of Diversity in IP Law to bring the unique set of tools and programs developed and successfully implemented by the Foundation to the member Inns of the Alliance to advance the important goal of promoting diversity within the patent bar. The Foundation was established in 2002 by AIPLA and the ABA IPL Section to recruit STEM-educated members of underrepresented racial and ethnic groups and not only provides them with financial support but importantly engages with them prior to admission to law school and during law school to promote readiness for a successful career in patent law.
THE OBJECTIVE
The objective of our partnership with the Foundation is to bring the unique set of tools and programs developed and successfully implemented by the Foundation to the member Inns of the Alliance to advance the important goal of promoting diversity within the patent bar. These tools and programs can be used by individual member Inns to complement existing diversity efforts or to establish new diversity plans suited to their particular capabilities and interests.
THE FOUNDATION
The Foundation was established in 2002 by AIPLA and the ABA IPL Section. It recruits STEM-educated members of underrepresented racial and ethnic groups and not only provides them with financial support but importantly engages with them prior to admission to law school and during law school to promote readiness for a successful career in patent law. Through its Sidney B. Williams Scholar Program, established in 2020, it assists its selected Scholars with law school admission, offers them guidance on how to succeed in law school, helps them take and pass the patent bar exam, mentors them on career paths within IP and otherwise interacts with them throughout their law school careers.
